Battling Negativity and Self Doubt
When things get tough, it’s easy to lose confidence and slander yourself. But when that happens, you have to believe in yourself more than ever, more than anyone would ever. If you don’t believe in yourself then who will? If your best friend tells you, “nahhh you can’t do it.” Are you going to believe her and go home? No. So why would you believe yourself when you tell yourself you can’t do it. First and foremost you have to believe in you or you’re never going to make it. Mindset is everything.
Even when no one believes in you, you have to believe in you. Tell everyone else to fuck off or walk away silently (which ever you prefer) and work hard in turning your goals in to accomplishments. Use the negativity to fuel you, not sway you.
Tell your self and everyone “watch me make it happen” or else the negativity will drown you out. You might end up in a rabbit hole of depression, it happens to the best of us. It happens to me every few weeks but I’ve always been able to pull my self out.
I’m constantly battling my negativity and self doubt when it comes to mathematics on a daily basis. I grew up telling myself “I’m shit at math” and you know what? I was shit at math because I used that as an excuse to be shit at math. I still have the tendency to say “I wasn’t born mathematically inclined” even today. This morning I was sitting in Calc class and several individuals were consistently calling out answers, meanwhile I was lost and working hard to understand the material. At that point I recall thinking briefly, “People like that are meant to become engineers, not me.” Even as I’m writing this, I’m procrastinating working on Calculus because it’s so damn overwhelming. To be fair, I’m writing to hype my self up to go fucking do it.
As you keep pushing yourself and challenge your weaknesses or things that stir self doubt, you’ll turn them into your strength. This goes for everything in life. You may not be great at something now, but as you keep trying you are going to get better without a doubt. Also, don’t forget, life is not a race. Everyone blooms at their own pace, so don’t go comparing yourself to a high school classmate of yours that seems like they’re doing so much better than you. If you have to compare, compare to yourself to yesterday.
Goals are always only going to be goals if you don’t take action. No matter how intimidating it may be, there is nothing you cannot overcome with some confidence, conviction and patience.
So gather yourself, get an energy drink, do some jumping jacks and play a song that makes your blood pressure shoot up and GO FUCKING DO IT. You got this.

(PS— If you need a recommendation for energy drinks let me know. I am SO wired right now, I had to sit myself down and talk myself out of going biking at 11pm when I have to be up at 7am to study.)
