New York city eats
The Lodge by Urban Space
Exclusively only during the Bryant Park Winter Wonderland which recently opened up for this winter season. Today I strolled by before meeting with a friend and found that Urban Space is operating this space this winter. If you don’t know of Urban Space, it’s a company that leases large spaces and rents them out to tons of smaller restaurants. Kind of like a trendy cafeteria.
There’s about 10 different Urban Spaces or holiday markets around the city. I always enjoy going to to Urban Spaces since you can eat, drink and have desert there.
Today I tried the Pierogi Boys (polish dumpling shop) sampler, which was so so so good. I can’t wait to go back.
Sweet Chick: LES
I started hearing more and more about chicken and waffles as I got more exposure to southern cuisine. I absolutely could not wrap my head around the concept of something so savory being combined with such a sweet breakfast food.
Sweet Chick opened up a whole new door of love for southern comfort food. Their Mac & Cheese is drop dead delicious. The restaurant has a rustic vibe blasting hip-hop and mom uber Japanese loves this place.
This place also has several locations across the borough, so you really don’t have an excuse to not go there.
Harbs
This place is a Japanese Cake cafe with incredible lunch options. Everything is made in house, and their lunch comes with a sandwich with Japanese toast, free refills of hot tea and a slice of their signature cake. Japanese toast is the fluffiest and most delicious toast to ever exist (I’ve heard Korean toast is similar). Their cake options are vast, ranging from berries, chocolate to matcha. The strawberry short cake strawberry is only made when they have a shipment of the best strawberries. Unlike American cakes, it’s not overly sweet or over the top in anyway. If classiness could describe a taste, this cake was classy af.
Sweetgreen
Today I met Nina, one of my closest friends of 8 years, for lunch and she suggested Sweetgreen. I had never been but I had seen them in Philly and all over New York progressively and still hadn’t tried it.
I regret not trying sooner. This place is beyond delicious. They specialize in greens aka salads, no surprise there considering the name. Their salads however are worth every penny. I got the Guacamole Greens which has organic mesclun, avocado, roasted chicken, red onion, tomatoes, tortilla chips, fresh lime squeeze, lime cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. When I saw the Sweetgreen girl scoop out half an avocado and dump it into my salad, I thought my heart was going to explode of happiness.
